Drive-through holdup

By JONATHON HOWARD

WARWICK MacDonalds staff members and local police have been praised for their quick response to a hair-raising holdup recently.
Police allege that about 4am on Sunday 11 May, a 19-year-old man approached the drive-through window of the Albion Street business on foot.
The man allegedly produced a broken glass bottle and demanded cash from the staff.
The employees refused the man’s demands and alerted police who responded to the call within five minutes, Warwick MacDonald’s operations manager Daine Reid said.
“A massive thank you needs to go out to the Warwick Police for responding so quickly,” Mr Reid said.
Officers arrested the man at the scene.
Staff were also praised for their quick thinking during the ordeal.
The 19-year-old Warwick man will face charges including one count each of attempted armed robbery and entering a premise with intent.
He was due to appear in the Warwick Magistrates’ Court on Monday, instead his trial will take place in Toowoomba Magistrates’ Court later this month.
