WARWICK CROQUET CLUB
The 108-year-old Warwick Croquet Club offers three forms of croquet. Golf croquet is usually preferred for introducing prospective players to the game, but is also becoming very popular and competitive, especially by metropolitan and coastal clubs. Ricochet, a second version of the game is a little more rewarding by offering a second stroke when contact with another ball is made. In the past, association croquet has been the main game and remains the favourite with the majority of Warwick members. However, all versions are available as the club has playing times on Tuesday mornings, Thursday afternoons when some play golf croquet, and Saturday afternoons.
Recently the club hosted a day of golf and ricochet attended by members of the Boonah Club who do not regularly play the association game. This tends to be an annual event and has become popular with both clubs.
A Gala Day will be held on 17 June to which all clubs in the local region have been invited. The region is bounded by Kingaroy, Dalby, Goondiwindi and Stanthorpe but also includes three Toowoomba clubs. These are social days offering an exchange of news and views while the advanced players, often accredited coaches, assist the less experienced players, offering many helpful hints.
