Car in ram-raid

A TOWNSVILLE man who ram-raided a Warwick car dealership and stole a car from the showroom floor has been remanded in custody.
Police allege the 34-year-old entered a car dealership at Betta Street at about 11.55pm on Tuesday, 22 July before using a vehicle on the showroom floor to smash through the glass doors.
He then proceeded to steal another vehicle from the showroom and drove towards Brisbane, allegedly committing three break and enter offences at Aratula as he went.
Several hours later police in Brisbane spotted the offender inside the stolen vehicle.
When he failed to stop, a pursuit ensued which resulted in four vehicles being damaged or written off.
The 34-year-old was finally apprehended and charged with numerous offences relating to the rampage.
He faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court the following day, where he was remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, Warwick police intercepted a stolen Ford Falcon sedan on Nolan Road about 9am the same day.
A 50-year-old male driver was charged with driving while more than six times over the legal limit as well as disqualified driving and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He fronted Warwick’s Magistrates Court on 23 July where he was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment for drink driving and disqualified driving, fined $1,500 for car theft and had his licence revoked for two years.
