Warwick Bowls
THE final of the S/S fours was played on Saturday with Tom Seaniger, Trevor Wright, Max Holder, Edwin Welsh winning 25-16 over George Niven, Alex Naylor, Doug Christensen, Barry Johnstone. Barry’s team stayed in touch till the eighth end but after that Edwin’s team took control of the game. We congratulate both teams on reaching the final but Edwin’s team is our champion for 2014. The club selected pairs have been selected and are on the board and the following bowlers are to play next Saturday: T. Seaniger and E. Welsh v R. Valentine and M. Holder; K. Blomfield and T. Wright v D. Neal and P. Gynther; A. Naylor and D. Warr v L. Tucker and C. Johnson; L. McCosker and B. Black v L. Collie and C. Farrell; P. Summers and N. Rickard v C. McCosker and J. Ruhle; W. Tucker and I. Campbell v G. Asay and P. Collis. The following week S. Valentine and B. Johnstone will play the winner of E. Welsh’s team and M. Holder’s team and G. Creighton and K. Bryson will play the winner of I. Campbell’s team and P. Collis’ team. This is an interesting experiment playing the men and ladies together in the club selected games, it has built the entries up to 28 and I’m sure will be a great success.
We had a good roll up for last Wednesday’s KFC and here are the results: K. Blomfield, K. Cunning, M. Holder 24 v G. Asay, B. Hanson, I. Campbell 17; P. Kerr, C. Farrell, B. Johnstone 29 v P. Summers, G. Kerr, C. Johnson 20; D. Neal, R. Bone, P. Wagner 20 v R. Valentine, W. Tucker, J. Niven 14; L. Tucker, L. Collie, G. Niven 17 v B. Buckel, B. Maunder, S. Valentine 11; L. Meiklejohn, B. Black 27 v C. McCosker, J. Ruhle 23; T. Seaniger, L. McCosker 26 v G. Murphy, T. Wright 13. I don’t know what marble came out of the lucky draw, but it was probably “draw cards”. The winning team was George Niven’s team and the runners-up was Lloyd McCosker’s team. We thank KFC for sponsoring this popular event.
There were two social pairs games on Saturday and here are the results: W. Tucker, C. Johnson 22 v L. Tucker, D. Warr 20; G. Asay, P. Gynther 25 v R. Smith, M. Stewart 16.
Sunday was sponsored by Cherry Tree and unfortunately was cold and bleak so numbers were down, but we thank Scott Morton for not only giving us vouchers but also providing a scrumptious afternoon tea. The vouchers went to I. Fordyce, W. Tucker, B. Black and the runners-up to R. Valentine, D. Miller, M. Wagner. Here are the results I. Fordyce, W. Tucker, B. Black 34 v L. Tucker, B. Maunder, E. Welsh 10; R. Valentine, D. Miller, M. Wagner 30 v D. Neal, G. Murphy, B. Johnstone 18; B. Hansen, J. Ruhle 23 v S. Valentine, D. Warr 17.
Looking ahead we have social on Saturday, club meetings on Tuesday 12 August and Jackpot on Wednesday 13 August. The next sponsor day will be the Bushies on Sunday 24 August.
