Rowlings, B. Friend – game to start 1pm, social bowls to be played, names by 12-30. Keep in mind the ladies are organising bowls for Father’s Day on Saturday 6 September, so all fathers are most welcome to attend, names by 12.30am game starts 1pm.

Tenterfield Veterans Golf
A SMALL field of 19 veterans teed off in a single stableford event as a large
majority of regular players had left for the Goondawindi open. Tony Hassall’s 39 points secured the win with Richard Ackland 37 on a four-way countback the daily runner-up. NTP: 18th Brian Curry (507cm). Best front nine: Denis Hull 23. Best back nine: Michael Hurley 20. Thanks Eric Butler and Peter Brown for your efforts in my absence.
Our annual overnight trek to the Goondiwindi Veteran’s Open Day on Wednesday 6 August proved popular, with 29 Tenterfield Veteran’s making the trip. A great field of 124 players teed off and I am pleased to report Tenterfield’s Brian Curry was
declared the overall winner on the day and received the “Masters” sports jacket. Well played Brian, and the jacket fitted you as though it was tailor-made. Other winners: A Grade third long drive – Peter Mustoo; A Grade nearest to pin – Brian Curry.
The Tenterfield Veteran Golfers’ AGM will be held on 26 August. The Bonalbo 50-and-over day is on Tuesday 16 August. See vets captain to nominate.

Warwick Bowls
WE lost one of our valuable veteran bowlers last Wednesday with the sudden death of Keith Gimm. Keith was one of our most consistent bowlers and we will miss his happy smile and killer backhand. We offer our sincere sympathy to his family.

Southern Cross Bowls
THIS coming Saturday 16 August will be sponsored by the Gladfield boys. This afternoon always proves to be very popular so anyone wishing to play will be most welcome. Names in by 1pm please for a 1.30pm start.
Last Sunday the Warwick Hockey Association sponsored a very successful afternoon in raising money for the school boys team to go to Cairns.
