THE Grove was grooving at the weekend as people from all over the Southern Downs, Brisbane and Northern NSW headed to Coolmunda Olives on Sunday, for music and lunch.
Visitors from as far afield as Brisbane, Toowoomba, Warwick, Stanthorpe, Goondiwindi, Kurrumbul, Yelarbon, Texas and Inglewood were among the large crowd that enjoyed a day of relaxed entertainment featuring live music and an alfresco lunch last Sunday at the first official “Grooving in the Grove” function at Coolmunda Olives 19 kilometres east of Inglewood.
“Grooving in the Grove” is the brainchild of Inglewood’s Doctor Colin Owen and His wife Gesine. Their olive grove, which they established in 1998, has more than 7000 flourishing trees and is currently the largest organic grove in Queensland.
Late last year they invited family and friends to a trialling of a scaled down version of “Grooving in the Grove”. The enthusiastic response to the trial encouraged them to proceed with the project.
Their aim is to provide a regular musical event for the community and to stage it in the exceptional venue they have created on their property which overlooks Coolmunda Dam.
