All hands on deck

HAVE you ever thought of going potty? Stanthorpe Pottery Club might just be able to help you.
The club, which welcomes new members, will hold informal workshops on the third Tuesday of each month starting on 21 October.
The workshops follow on from their recent successful two-day event.
The event was held earlier this month thanks to the Regional Arts Development Fund.
Eight potters took part in the two-day workshop at the Stanthorpe Pottery Club taught by Lindsay Hamilton.
All weekend members sculpted, coiled, slabbed and wheel-worked various clays into pots, platters and creatures.
Under Lindsay’s supervision they texturised and pummelled works, added bits on and carved bits out. This was followed by demonstrations of dipping, spraying and airbrushing glazes on to the pots.
A Regional Arts Development Fund grant enabled the club to bring Lindsay, a ceramicist and painter from the Sunshine Coast, to facilitate the workshop.
Lindsay, who left Scotland in the 1980s, has strong links with Stanthorpe as it was her first home in Australia and she made many friends through the pottery club at that time.
The club’s informal workshops are on the third Tuesday of each month, contact Maryke on 4681 0000 for details.
