Short films mark festival

AND the winners were…….
A group of around 45 dedicated short film followers enjoyed the latest offering of short films
from around the globe as part of the 17th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival on Thursday 2 October.
The Manhattan Short Film Festival is an international event, organised by Australian Nick Mason, with 10 short films from filmmakers around the world.
Viewers around the world cast votes for their favourites.
These figures are then collated at the Manhattan Headquarters and results published on the Manhattan website www.manhattanshort.com.
Tenterfield Cinema began screening the Manhattan Short Film Festival in 2007 and was one of the first Australian cinemas to take it up. Apart from 2013, the Manhattan Short Film Festival has been enjoyed by Tenterfield movie goers each year in late September/early October.
This year, the Tenterfield audience voted for “Mend and Make Do” (12 votes – England), closely followed by “On The Bridge” (10 votes – England), with “Rhino Full Throttle” coming in third (7 votes – Germany) for the Best Film.
Clear winner in the Best Actor category for Tenterfield was Sameerah Luqumaan-Harris in “The Bravest, The Boldest” (USA) with 21 votes which was confirmed by the overall results showing 38,256 votes.
The official results came in with “Rhino Full Throttle” first (16,648 votes), “Mend and Make Do”
second (10,797 votes) and “The Bravest, The Boldest” third (9,959 votes).
Mayor Peter Petty, who attended the event for the first time was very enthusiastic about the
short films.
“Each film left you with a particular emotion, be it anticipation, suspense, happiness, empathy or sadness”, he said.
“It was very difficult to judge best film as they were all so wonderful. In the end, I had to vote with my heart”, he added.
