Warwick Tourism and events has compiled a list of fun things to do around the region during the holidays.
WARWICK INDOOR RECREATION AND AQUATIC CENTRE
Holiday Learn to Swim Intensive Program
The school holidays are a great opportunity for children to join the Holiday Intensive Swimming Program.
The five-day programs cater for beginners to advanced learn to swim students.
The program is a great chance to learn some new skills and consolidate current skills to move up to the next level in the Learn to Swim Program.
Cost of the five day program is $57.50 per student which includes pool entry for each day of the program for the student.
Payments for holiday intensive swim programs must be made upon booking.
No booking can be made without payment.
1. Holiday Activity Program
Cost $20.70 per day per child or $90 for a five-day block per child five to 13 years, Prep to Grade 7.
Week 1 – Monday 16 December to Friday 20 December.
Week 2 – Monday 6 January to Friday 10 January.
Week 3 – Monday 13 January to Friday 17 January.
Week 4 – Monday 20 January to Friday 24 January.
2. Squad Swimming
Tuesdays and Thursdays 7am to 9am from 6 January to 23 January.
3. Rock wall and swim for $5 on a Tuesday and Thursday during the holidays from 10am.
STANTHORPE LIBRARY
Stanthorpe Library will be participating in the Summer Reading Club.
The theme is ‘Investigate’ and children who sign up receive an activity pack plus there are prizes to be won.
There will be craft activity tables set up throughout the holidays which can be used at any time.
There are also going to be treasure hunts and an eye spy cabinet as well as a Guess the Book in a Jar competition.
LAWDOGS AUSTRALIA
Lawdogs Australia’s A Dog Show With Bite is an Australian first business in the Southern Downs offering public dog shows of demonstrations and training of protection, detection and agility dogs.
It is open every Wednesday and Saturday with shows from 11am and 2pm going for about one hour.

BESTBROOK MOUNTAIN RESORT
A kids’ holiday camp from 16-20 December and again on 13-17 January.
There will be horse riding daily throughout the holidays.
Billy tea and damper will be at 10.30am on Saturdays Tuesday and Thursdays.
Animal feeding and cow milking is daily at 8.30am and 4pm.
Wagon rides with whip cracking and boomerang throwing will be at 9.30am on Saturdays and Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
TAKE A WALK
Take a bike or skateboard and enjoy the Condamine River Walk, visit Warwick Information Centre for map.
PITCH A TENT
Toast a marshmallow, skim a stone and discover Goomburra Valley’s natural wonders while camping at one of the many campgrounds available.
ENJOY THE MOUNTAIN AIR
Explore the Queen Mary Falls National Park and view the spectacular waterfall.
Feed the parrots and enjoy a drink or an ice-cream at Queen Mary Falls Cafe, Spring Creek Road, Killarney. Visitors may see a koala, platypus or echidna at Goomburra National Park, Forestry Reserve Road, Goomburra.
FUN ON THE WATER
The fish will be biting at Leslie Dam throughout the holidays – take a picnic, throw the frisbee and let the kids run free. Find a fortune fossicking at Thanes Creek, Swiper’s Gully or Glendon Camping Ground.
STEP-BACK IN TIME
The Veterans Support and Advocacy Support is the place to go for all things military, an amazing display of memorabilia and a great little spot to share a story. Phone 4661 5099.
Pringle Cottage Museum is a treasure trove of historical photographs, books, journals and letters. Phone 4661 3234.
ADRENALINE HITS
Churn up some mud on a motorbike at Gap Creek Farm Stay, or saddle-up and hit the trail for a horseride.
SPORTS LOVERS
WIRAC offers a variety of activities daily for a variety of ages including a rock climbing wall, orienteering or paining.
Get lost or found at The Granite Belt Maze and Mini Golf.
FOR THE ANIMAL LOVER
Enjoy a horse or pony ride at Cherrabah Resort. While you’re also visit the animal nursery.
For a little activity hit the grass slopes on the skis, hit a tennis ball and even enjoy a lunch. Phone before arriving.
Darling Downs Zoo has recently welcomed some new additions to its animal family, head north to see the new baby macaque monkey, as well as the famous white lion and many other exotic and native creatures.
BOOK WORMS
Immerse the kids in a world of adventure with a good book from the Southern Downs libraries. Phone daily for what’s happening on 4661 0342.
MOVIE BUFFS
Fun for all the ages, Warwick Twin Cinema will keep the kids busy.
TAKE A DRIVE
Load the kids in the car and head off on a tourist drive! The Sunflower Route will take visitors to Allora where they can visit the Regional Sports Museum and the Historical Museum.
PICNIC IN THE PARK
Let the kids run and play while relaxing relax on a blanket with a good book. Warwick’s Australiana Park is just one of many parks within the city that has activity equipment, a bike track, amenities and plenty of shade trees.
GET CREATIVE
