Stars come out for carols

A great turnout at the carols.

A STAGE from Brisbane, sound and lighting from Toowoomba and about 20 talented acts made for a very professional and successful inaugural Christmas carols at Allora on Saturday night.
A crowd of at least 500 began to gather at Dalrymple Creek Reserve with chairs and picnic rugs to enjoy the markets and sausage sizzle from 3pm before settling in to watch the carols which kicked off at 6.30pm.
Stacey Turner organised the event with her sister Sarah Turner and long-time friend Gretta Barton along with the help of Rotary, Allora RSL and a Southern Downs Regional Council grant.
She said she was “overwhelmed” by the positive feedback.
“I actually didn’t quite expect the response we have had,” Stacey said.
“The concert flowed beautifully… we had a wonderful calibre of talent… Santa dropped by at 8pm.
She was also blown away by the number of locals who took part.
“It was hard to grasp how many people were in the crowd, but I would say there was a least 500 people, possibly more,” Stacey said, who performed on the night.
“Considering that’s about half the population, that’s pretty good.”
Favourable weather also ensured carol-goers stayed glued until the end of the night.
“We were really lucky; we had a light shower in the afternoon but nothing for the rest of the night. We even had the moon and a couple of stars.”
“We hope to do it bigger and better next year.”
