Devil in the tourism detail

At the tourism meeting were Deb Wheeler, Tracey Vellacotte, Carina Divine and Danielle McNevin.

ALMOST 70 people attended a meeting to discuss the future of tourism on the Southern Downs at the Warwick Town Hall on Thursday night.
The event was chaired by Warwick Tourism and Events chairperson Majella Kahler.
Ms Kahler called the meeting as an information session on the Tourism Transition Report that was recently adopted by Southern Downs Regional Council.
Speakers on the night included mayor Peter Blundell who spoke on the background of the current report and the way forward.
Council CEO David Keenan followed and provided those present with his extensive background across tourism and economic development in other locations he has worked in.
Council manager of Planning, Cecil Barnard, then got into the detail of the report, highlighting the major recommendations.
There was then an opportunity to ask questions and raise concerns, with the chief concern of those there being a reduction in funding to tourism, which was subsequently denied.
