Child sex charges

A WARWICK man has been charged with 145 charges relating to child sex offences that allegedly occurred over a period of 13 years.
It will be alleged that the 47-year-old man used a variety of social media sites to offend against 28 child victims between 2002 and 2015.
The man used various usernames to target the children, including ‘Jazz’, ‘Jazzman’ and ‘David Bourne.’
The alleged victims were from Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, with police believing there may be other victims from Western Australia.
The 145 charges include five counts of rape, four counts of indecent treatment of children under 16, eight counts of grooming a child under 16 with intent to procure engagement in a sexual act, 20 counts of involving children in making child exploitation material, 11 counts of making child exploitation material, two counts of making child abuse films and one count of distribution of child exploitation material.
The investigation was a joint operation between Warwick Child Protection and Investigation Unit and Taskforce Argos, using the name ‘Operation North Lithium.’
The man is expected to appear in Warwick Magistrates’ Court on 13 April.
