Day of colours

THREE members of the Kyogle Red Cross, president Val Ferris, secretary Julie Kirkpatrick and Gillian Allerton, were at the Woodenbong Central School on Thursday 14 May to present prizes to primary students.
These students had competed in the Anzac Day colouring-in competition and, according to the three judges, the standard was very high.
Prior to the presentations, Ms Ferris spoke to the students about the great work Mr Simpson and his donkey had done moving injured soldiers to safety in WWI.
She then donated three books titled Mr Simpson and His Donkey to the primary school.
Then came the big moment, presenting the prizes to the winners: Kindergarten – Elke Johnston; Grade 1 – Lucy Ross; 2 – Noah Osborough; 3 – Jhett Wadsworth; 4 – Chloe Newman with highly commended Rose Wilson; 5 – Shiloh Williams; 6 – Jemima Lee with highly commended Bessie Wilson.
