Warwick East Bowls Club
THERE were no Red Rooster bowls last week because of the rain. On Saturday and Sunday our club participated in the District club challenge in Stanthorpe. Our representatives were: Singles – R. Philps; Pairs – D. Sullivan and N. Wickham; Triples – B. Gibson, V. Nelson and N. Farmer; Fours – E. Diery, G. Carson, B. Lee and N. Hassum. Our win record was: against Goondiwindi – Fours only; against Tenterfield – Singles, Pairs and Triples; against Texas – Singles, Pairs and Fours; against Tannymorel – Singles only. Our best result therefore was in the Singles, where R. Philps won three of his four games.
On Saturday, there will be social bowls as usual. Play starts at 1pm. with names in by 12.30pm. Visitors are always very welcome.

Southern Cross Bowls Club
IT IS with great sadness that I write the notes this week after the sudden death of our esteemed member and good friend Frank O’Mara. The members would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Rosie and Gary and to Frank’s extended family. Frank has held the positions of Providore, vice-president, councillor and was the current treasurer. He will be sorely missed. RIP Frank.
Last Thursday morning, there was one game of B grade singles with 31 ends being played in rainy conditions. V. Gray d K. Mooney 25-17. The rain cleared in the afternoon which enabled the Presidents pairs to be played. Y. Reid, C. Hope d C. Wickham, Q. Hamer 21-11; R. Lawson, C. Sawyer d D. Cross, B. Donovan 16-7. Winners were Y. Reid and C. Hope and the runners-up were R. Lawson and C. Sawyer. Winners of the table prizes were Quita, Beth, Barb, Cheryl, Yvonne and Dave. It was lovely to have our Patroness Beth come along and enjoy afternoon tea with us. Thank you also to president Chris for putting on a lovely afternoon.
There will be no bowls at the Cross today Thursday 2 July due to Frank’s wake.
Coming up this Sunday 5 July will be social mixed bowls along with some of the men’s singles games which were postponed from last Thursday.
