Business at its best

WOODENBONG proudly showcased three local businesses at the recent inaugural ‘Kyogle and Villages Business Awards with one local business taking out a major award.
The M.J. Smith Group of Woodenbong were among the major awards winners at the event organised by Kyogle and District Chamber of Commerce.
The dinner celebrating excellence in business in the Kyogle Local Government Area was held at the Kyogle Bowling Club.
Almost 200 people, representing and supporting local small businesses attended the night.
Woodenbong businesses entered in two categories of the nine options.
The Woodenbond Driveway and Woodenbong Hotel were nominated in the Best Small Business award while Michael Smith of the M.J. Smith Group nominated in the best large business.
It was a big night for businesses outside of the Kyogle town-ship led by Woodenbong’s M.J. Smith Group, who won best large business award while Louisa’s Fine Foods of Bonalbo took out the Community Service Award.
The overall winner was Gateway Fine Foods winning firstly Best Small Business and then the Business of the Year 2015.
Michael was delighted to be presented with his award by Danielle Mulholland, Mayor of Kyogle.
Amid the beautiful scenery and natural beauty of the mountainous region where Woodenbong is located on the MacPherson Ranges, the Woodenbong community is endowed with businesses of exceptional ability to diversify to meet the needs of the district and to maintain their structure to support the lifestyle of the residents.
