Warwick East Bowls
ON Sunday afternoon, we enjoyed Venus and Vic’s sponsored day, with three rinks of triples and one of fours. The results were: M. Wagner, B. Friend, G. Farmer 22 d M. Wright, B. Lee, D. Hughes 14; E. Diery, G. Brady, N. Farmer 21 d R. Philps, A. Wickham, M. Thompson 16; P. Dipplesman, E. Norman, B. Somerville 19 d N. Wickham, G. Carson, L. Tucker 15; F. Ternanov, G. Shelley, R. Francis, N. Hassum 20 d D. Sullivan, W. Tucker, T. Francis, L. Nicklich 16. Trophy winners were M. Wagner’s team with the biggest winning margin and N. Wickham’s team (on a countback) with the smallest losing margin. We thank Venus and Vic for providing the trophies and prizes for the multi-draw raffle as well as a delicious afternoon tea. Thanks also to all who played on the day.
Thursday next week will be the men’s monthly triples, starting at 12.30pm. If you would like a game, phone the club on 4661 9050 after 10am. Skips inform the club if your team is unavailable and also ensure you have a full team.
Finally, there will be social bowls as usual on Saturday, starting at 1pm with names in by 12.30pm. Visitors will be made very welcome.
Southern Cross Bowls
LAST Thursday, the club hosted the annual Cool Scarves and Silly Socks day which coincides with the Jumpers and Jazz celebrations in Warwick. It was lovely seeing our bowlers and social players dressing for the occasion with Noel Fletcher and Karina Devine taking out the best dressed man and lady prizes. Many thanks to Deb for all the work done in organising the event and also thank you to the business houses in Warwick for their donations for the multi draw raffle and also for our sausage sizzle lunch. Thanks Ross for cooking the sausages.

Winners were P. Crawford, B. O’Brien and C. Hope. The runners-up were S. Gibson, Prickles and Noel Fletcher while the Encouragement award went to D. Crawford, R. Ellwell and C. Davidson.
It was an extremely pleasant day with a generous donation going to the Wesley and Mater hospitals for their pink bras and blue jocks cancer funds.
Today Thursday 30 July will be social bowls starting at 1 pm.
Coming up this Sunday 2 August will be Patrons day. Ron and Beth are looking forward to seeing all our members come along and enjoy a game. Names in by 12.30pm for a 1pm start.

Last Saturday, the last round of the semi-final of Self Selected Triples was played. Result: Doug Warr, John Ruhle, Brian Black d Trevor Wright, Max Holder, Edwin Welsh 19-17. This must have been a great game to watch as on the 16 end Edwin’s team was leading 17-9, but then on the last end scores were tied on 17-all. An extra end had to be played with Brian’s team holding their nerve and winning by two. Congratulations on a great game. There was one social game with Les Meiklejohn, Jim Rickard d Alex Naylor, George Leo 16-14.
COMING EVENTS: 1 August: Call up for Final of Self Selected Triples: Greg Murphy, Doug Christensen, Peter Collis to play Doug Warr, John Ruhle, Brian Black. The Club Selected Triples will close. Sunday 2 August: president Jim and president Judith will hold their President’s Day. It is hoped all members will be able to support this day. Tuesday 4 August: Monthly Triples – starting time midday. Wednesday 5 August: Social Bowls. Saturday 8 August: one round of Club Selected Triples and social bowls. Wednesday 12 August: Jack Pot Pairs. Saturday 15 August: Social and Club Selected Triples. Wednesday 19 August: KFC sponsored bowls. Saturday 22 August: Social bowls and Self Selected Triples. Sunday 23 August: Cherry Tree sponsored bowls afternoon.
LADIES SECTION: Friday 31 July: The Quarterly Birthday Luncheon will be held at Gardens Galore at midday. A booking has been made for 15, and we are looking forward to everyone attending. Saturday 2 August: Our president Judith Cutmore and Men’s Section president Jim Rickard will be holding their combined Presidents’ Day. Looking forward to a great attendance. Names in by 12.30pm for play at 1pm.
Friday 14 August: The Monthly General Meeting will be held at 10am.
