Tales of another time

RITA Crawford was born in the early ’50s, a time of red gingham and great hope.
But it was also a time of real people – removed from the ones we know – and so Rita’s newly published book titled “Stories of a ’50s girl” takes us on a time flip back to somewhere we think we know about but most of us never got to really experienced … or did and want to remember.
The cover features “Mary-Ann” Rita’s childhood doll wearing an iconic Brigitte Bardot red gingham dress.
Rita’s book is a collection of poems, verse and stories, which, over the past 20 years, have grown to more than 50 tales of the lives of real people and places visited.
“Sunday Afternoon tells of a walk through the park and on down by the river and all the action and excitement encountered,” Rita said.
“Monday Morning is a verse about how wash days used to be.
“The good times and adventures of two boys growing up in Warwick is titled ‘Mates’.
“Perfect Day describes a wonderful wedding at Talgi Homestead.”
To celebrate the launch of her book, Rita will be holding a book talk and morning tea at the Warwick Library, at 10.30am on 25 September.
