The inaugural Billy Carts on the Border was held near the border of Wallangarra and Jennings on Saturday 17 October.
Organiser Brian Springborg said that while the first event had suffered from growing pains it had received strong feedback from the community.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to really enjoyed, everyone had a great time, they all congratulated us on it.
“I’ve already been asked about when the next one is,” he said.
Brian said that more than 100 people took part in some way with the event with about 50 billy carts registered.
The event was created in conjunction with the Wallangarra Union Church as a fundraiser and as way to help the church and give some entertainment to children in the area.
“We hope to have one next year,” he said.
Unfortunately Queensland will have to wait another year for another crack at the State of Origin challenge which was won by a competitor from south of the border.
