THE Golden Grove Estate Winery in Ballandean hosted a day of music, food and fine wine on Saturday as a fund-raiser for local Stanthorpe radio station Ten FM.
The 40-acre winery put on their first ‘Magic in the Vineyard’ event featuring live music, comedy and auctions with a Mediterranean-style buffet lunch and free wine tasting.
Organiser and owner Sam Costanzo said due to its success they may look at making it an annual event.
“It went fantastic, everything went to plan and probably even better,” he said.
“It’s the first one we’ve had, in conjunction with Ten FM, we might look at a yearly event.”
Sam said they were basically at capacity with 150 people in attendance and that it was all in an effort to raise money for the community’s benefit.
“I’m involved with radio Ten FM our local community radio station,” he said.
“The money raised will go to new and upgraded equipment.”
In the auction, the big seller was the kilo of cherries that went to one bidder for $100.
If you are planning on making the trip down to Golden Grove, Sam said to look out for the Barbera.
“Our wines all special. The most recent one is Barbera. It’s a dry red, medium body of Italian variety,” he said.
