THE skateboarders and scooter-riders flew, and the Woodenbong Skate Park and Outdoor Gym was officially opened on Saturday 28 November.
Woodenbong Progress Association’s Project officer Carey Andrews was full of praise for the new area.
“This facility is amazing for the Woodenbong community and surrounding communities and is being regularly used by locals and visitors alike,” Carey said.
“It is truly an asset to be proud of. Our thanks go to all those involved in the projects.”
Many locals joined in with the “Fun Day with Sport’ organised by Woodenbong Progress Association which included a skate park scooter demonstration by Bryson Larsen, a basketball competition, with the children taking on Woodenbong police Senior Constable Luke Rampling.
There was chalk drawing for the tiny tots, volley ball and other games to amuse everyone. WPA put on a sausage sizzle and a ‘wheel of fortune’ for everyone to spin to win a gift.
The pre-school held a fund-raiser stall and offered free face painting.
Woodenbong Rural Fire Brigade showcased their fire truck with a display of hose work which attracted a lot of attention by the children.
The fund-raising Woodenbong Community Coffee Group supplied delicious Espresso coffee and a place to sit and relax.
The Skate Park was funded by Sport and Recreation NSW, Kyogle Council and Woodenbong Progress Association in partnership and the Outdoor Gym was funded by Sport and Recreation NSW and Woodenbong Progress Association and installed by Kyogle Council.
Kyogle Council’s Woodenbong Depot worker Ash Warmsley put in a lot of work on the project with assistance by Geordie Reid and Richard Jenner while Kyogle Council’s Graham Kennett was also instrumental in the whole project.
