TENTERFIELD Shire Council will begin the search for a new general manager next week following the resignation of Lotta Jackson after a four-year term.
Mayor Peter Petty said Ms Jackson had accepted an executive position in the health industry and her resignation would come into effect in early March.
He said an extraordinary meeting of the council would be held next Wednesday to start the process which could take up to two months.
Mayor Petty said the meeting would be held to choose the organisation that would conduct the search and interviews for the new GM and then things would progress from there.
He said the council had been sad to see Lotta Jackson leave after her long tenure.
“Although sorry to see the general manager go, Lotta goes with our best wishes and I know the community of Tenterfield Shire will join me in wishing her well,” Mayor Petty said.
“Our loss will be the health industry’s gain.
“The dedication, passion and time Lotta put into the position of general manager will never be forgotten.”
In her letter of resignation, Ms Jackson thanked council for “good governance and decision making over the past four years”,
She also thanked all staff for their dedication and passion in implementing the decision of council and putting Tenterfield on the map for future opportunities for both economic development and population growth.
He said there had been a number of key achievements made by the council during the time of Ms Jackson’s tenure.
They include extensive community engagement for the review and development of the Community Stategic Plan and associated plans each year; the adoption of and subsequent implementation of the LEP (2013) also involving extensive community engagement, where council was “open for business; remediation of the Waste Transfer Station and Landfills due to legacy issues; introduction of fluoridation of the water supply (2012); introduction of recycling (July 2014) with a 40 per cent less waste to landfill in 12 months and the adoption of the Mainstreet Master Plan (2013) and implementation of the Mainstreet project (2014) which was nominated for the Premier’s Award and the completion of the Bruxner Park beautification (2015).
In noting these and the other achievements, the general manager said she was proud of her tenure.
“I am proud of our collective achievements over this period, and I also wish to thank the community of Tenterfield Shire and our local State and Federal members for their encouragement and support in making these projects happen,” Ms Jackson said.
“Further, I personally want to thank the Mayor Mr Petty for his support and our excellent team work in complementing each other for the benefit of the Tenterfield Shire Community.”
