SOUTHERN Downs and Granite Belt residents have been warned they can expect possible heavy falls of rain today and tomorrow as an upper trough continues to move east across southern Queensland.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Adam Blazak told the Free Times there could be “short-lived” heavy falls of around 30mm in parts of the region today and on Friday with the chance of localised flash flooding.
“Residents should be aware that if these falls occur they could see some water over roads, so if it’s flooded then forget it,” he said.
“There will be the chance of showers and possible storms on Thursday and Friday as the trough continues to move east.
“But on Friday it should start moving up the coast and Saturday is expected to be fine and cool, but we’ll see another trough moving in on Sunday so there will be the chance of more rain early next week and falls of possibly between 10 and 25mm.”
