LLOYD Brown from Mallanganee, near Kyogle just over the Queensland-NSW border, has taken home the coveted Warwick Gold Cup after a top performance at the Warwick Campdraft on Sunday afternoon.
With the Warwick Showgrounds arena still damp from Saturday’s rain but under clear skies, Brown went into the final of the Pryde’s EasiFeed Warwick Gold Cup on Mallanganee Sampson, with a four-point lead after scores of 90 in each of the two rounds.
A massive cheer went up from the crowd when he steered his beast through the pegs to finish with a total of 266, with 35 competitors in the final.
Warwick’s Ben Tapp rode last year’s winner Acres Of Roses but missed a course score, finishing with 194.

Final four:

  1. Lloyd Brown (Mallanganee) on Mallanganee Sampson, 266.
  2. Berry Shann (Central Queensland) on Omiss, 264.
  3. Hugh Miles (Tamworth) on Honey, 263.
  4. Steve Comiskey (Capella) on Gigalo, 261.
