Trial starts for triple murder accused

Garry Reginald Dubois has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Barbara McCulkin and her daughters Vicki and Leanne in 1974.

A MAN accused of a triple murder in the early 1970s has today pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.
Garry Reginald Dubois, 68, is charged with the murder of 34-year-old Brisbane woman Barbara McCulkin and her two daughters, Vicki and Leanne, in 1974.
Dubois is also charged with the rape of one of the girls and of being complicit in the rape of the other and with deprivation of liberty, to all of which he also pleaded not guilty.
The trial before Justice Applegarth began today, Monday 7 November, and is expected to run for up to four weeks.
The trial of Dubois’ co-accused, Vincent O’Dempsey, is scheduled for early 2017.
