ORGANISERS of Stanthorpe Rocks music festival have pulled the pin on the event’s future after its fourth year.
The 2016 festival at Ballandean Estate Wines at the weekend was dogged by an afternoon storm with some festival goers understood to have been unhappy with the lack of shelter on the festival site.
Festival organiser Slydogz Pty Ltd, owned by promoter Ian Wade-Parker, released a statement on Facebook saying ticket sales this year had been down, prompting the decision to discontinue the festival which has run annually since 2013.
Stanthorpe Rocks 2016 featured Aussie music icons including the Hoodoo Gurus and the Black Sorrows.
“We had a blast and we hope you all did too,” the statement said.
“The Slydogz team are sad to announce the decision to discontinue Stanthorpe Rocks.”
“What we have achieved over these last few years is nothing short of incredible.
“Although this is goodbye for now we are so excited for what the future may hold for everyone who played a part at Stanthorpe Rocks.
“We believe in the music festival industry and want you all to continue to support it just like you’ve supported us. Rock on!”
Past acts at Stanthorpe Rocks have included Mental As Anything, Daryl Braithwaite, the Eurogliders, Leo Sayer and Jon English.
