A helping hand with history

The call is out for historical information about the Stanthorpe RSL Sub-branch.

Stanthorpe researcher Lynne Ritson is putting out a call to anyone who has information on gathering places for local Diggers in the town after World War I.
Lynne has been given a brief to compile a pictorial history celebrating the last 100 years of the Stanthorpe RSL Sub-branch.
She’s keen to hear from anyone in the area that may have historical photographs of any previous RSL buildings dating back as far as the first Stanthorpe club president, appointed in 1918 and named as G.H. Schemalleck.
“I’d love to hear from anyone with information on what buildings were previously used for gatherings for returned soldiers and sailors of the imperial league,” Lynne said.
“Anyone with photographs of the outsides or insides of any structures that used to preside where the current RSL building stands today on the corner of Marsh and Corundum streets, Stanthorpe, are being sought out also.”
Anyone who can help is asked to contact Lynne Ritson on 0411 180 509 or via email at stanrslmemorabilia@gmail.com
