Q: What is the difference between CHSP services and Home Care Packages?

A: Depending on your care needs, aged care services can be accessed through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) or a Home Care Package. The CHSP program aims to help those who need a low or basic level of support to keep living independently. Transport is an example of a CHSP service. Home Care Packages are for those with greater or more complex care needs on an ongoing basis. There are 4 levels of Home Care Packages. You can find out more on My Aged Care website www.myagedcare.gov.au or call 1800 200 422, or call STAR and ask to speak to one of our Care Coordinators.
