High school principal enjoying her new role

Warwick State High School’s new principal Cheryl Dossetto is already enjoying her new role.

“I am thrilled to have joined this vibrant educational community, which is steeped in history and tradition and boasts substantial academic, sporting, cultural and citizenship successes and achievements,” Ms Dossetto said.

“I look forward to working with the staff, students, families and local community to ensure Warwick High students reach their potential and graduate with appropriate pathways full of promise, success and personal fulfilment,” she said.

“While I have spent more than 25 years educating students in Brisbane schools, I was actually born and bred in a small country town, attending its local state primary and secondary schools.

“I began my teaching career at Stanthorpe State High School as an accounting and economics teacher and, during my career, I have held positions of head of department, deputy principal and, for the past seven years, as senior school principal and middle school principal at a very large State P-12 College in Brisbane.

“My two daughters are now young adults pursuing their own successful careers, so the chance to return to the country to lead a large secondary school was irresistible.

“I look forward to the challenge and have already experienced the wonderful support, collegiality and enthusiasm of staff during the first few weeks.

“In these early days of the school year, I am certainly enjoying the time I can spend with students as I get to know them and I look forward to meeting parents and families as opportunities arise.

“I also welcome the chance to establish relationships across the Warwick district, through industry, business and community groups and agencies.

“I am in no doubt that my tenure at Warwick State High School will be enjoyable, challenging, rewarding and memorable. I look forward with much anticipation to the journey ahead,” she said.
