Police from the Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad, assisted by Stanthorpe Police, conducted Operation Tancred on July 6, targeting rural property crime in the area. One search warrant executed at a Storm King address resulted in the location of four kilograms of dried cannabis as well as an unregistered firearm. A 37-year-old man will appear in Stanthorpe Magistrates Court in August.
Another three drink drivers were intercepted and charged during the past week, one being a 39-year-old woman who recorded an extreme reading of .407 per cent, over eight times the legal limit. The other two involved a 25-year-old man with a reading of .135 per cent and a 38-year-old Inglewood man with a reading of .051 per cent. The Inglewood man was stopped after police allegedly observed his utility travelling through the stop sign at the intersection of Railway and Creek Streets at speed.
Other traffic offenders charged included a 30-year-old man intercepted in Harris Street driving whilst unlicensed and a 27-year-old man intercepted at The Summit driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and also displaying cancelled registration plates.
The third Blue Light Disco for the year is being held tomorrow. A reminder to all students and parents that strict entry and behavioural conditions apply. An absolute no alcohol/drug policy will be enforced and photographic identification is essential. Parents of any students located with alcohol or having consumed alcohol prior to attempting entry can expect a phone call from police. The juniors disco is from 6pm to 8pm and then it’s the seniors’ turn from 8.30pm to 10.30pm.
