Harvest festival holiday giveaway

Aussies have less than two weeks left for a chance to win free tickets, flights and accommodation to Queensland for some of the Southern Downs and Granite Belt’s most popular events, following the launch of Tourism Queensland’s new online events calendar.
Minister for Tourism, Manufacturing and Small Business Jan Jarratt said iconic events such as the Granite Belt Primavera Festival and the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival drew crowds of visitors to the region each year.
“The Granite Belt Primavera Festival and the Warwick Pig and Calf Markets are just two examples of the fantastic events running during the promotional period,” she said.
“The chance for one lucky person and a friend to win return airfares, accommodation and tickets to an event of their choice listed on this new online tool, is just a few clicks away as well.
“To enter, visit www.queenslandholidays.com.au/things-to-see-and-do/events/events-calendar-competition.cfm, pick an event between November 1, 2011 and January 31, 2012 from the events calendar and fill out an online entry form.
“The new events calendar is an engaging way of promoting the fantastic range of large and small events in our region and around Queensland.”
The ‘Win a Trip to Queensland’ campaign closes at 10am (AEST) on Monday, October 17, with the winner to be announced soon afterwards.
Ms Jarratt said the new online events calendar would act as a one stop shop for visitors to see where and when events are happening.
“The calendar provides a quicker way for visitors to the website to obtain vital information about events happening throughout Queensland which may be of interest to them.”
The Bligh Government this year boosted the Events Queensland Budget to a record $174 million over four years in recognition of the vital role events play in supporting local communities and the tourism industry.
