Visitor guide showcases region

Tourism operators are set to benefit from the launch of the 2012 edition of the Explore visitor guide, showcasing the best country escape ideas in Southern Queensland Country.
Packed with information on accommodation, attractions and events, the Explore visitor guide is the go to guide for the annual 1.6 million visitors to the region.
Toowoomba Golden West and South Burnett Tourism marketing manager Geoff Thompson said the guides were always popular with visitors.
“Guides are distributed through Visitor Information Centres and RACQ offices throughout Queensland and northern New South Wales, and are useful for both people planning a visit and those who want to explore their own backyard,” Mr Thompson said.
“Lots of people don’t even realise how much there is to see and do in their own town,” he said.
“The guides showcase all the country experiences we have here, and encourage visitors to stay longer and spend more on their holiday.
“This in turn benefits our local tourism operators and the local economy.”
The guide is also available online at www.southerndownsholidays.com.au
