Stanthorpe son shines

Tony Torrisi recently competed in the largest Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament in Australia.
At this competition, he was one of only 13 of more than 500 fighters who were chosen for the honour of representing Australia at the largest and most prestigious BJJ competition in the world: The Abu Dhabi World Championships.
The United Arab Emirates Jiu Jitsu Foundation holds Abu Dhabi Championship trials in many countries around the world in order to select the very best fighters to the finals in Abu Dhabi.
Countries represented include Australia, China, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Korea, Poland, Russia, New Zealand, USA, Jordan, Mexico, South Africa, Romania, Finland, Portugal, Canada, UK and Malaysia.
In this year’s trials held in Sydney, Tony was the outright winner of his division of more than 60 fighters. He gives full credit for this achievement to his club Garra Jiu Jitsu Queensland Academy at Kelvin Grove, Brisbane.
This club is a very well known and highly ranked club of four black belts and a track record for producing many great fighters.
The ultimate prize he won is for flights/tickets to Abu Dhabi, accommodation in a five-star hotel with meals included for 10 nights and a visa.
The Abu Dhabi World Championships will be held on April 13-14.
Tony is the youngest son of Mario and Lynette Torrisi of Stanthorpe.
