Repairs to the guardrail at Palmer Bridge in Freestone were completed last week for just under $9000.
The railing was damaged after a single vehicle accident at the bridge earlier this year. Five bays of post and rail fence with new bull nose and breakway posts on the guard-rail have now been installed, to repair the damage.
The old fence and remnants of the car under the bridge were removed. The works had been scheduled for February but were delayed due to rains.
Mayor Ron Bellingham used the opportunity to warn residents to drive safely.
“We urge people to drive with caution, to road conditions and take care to maintain control of their vehicles at all times,” he said.
