Set for Nationals

The stage is set for the biggest polocrosse event since Warwick hosted the 2007 World Cup, when the best players in Australia arrive in town this week for the 2012 Barastoc Polocrosse Nationals.
Fast and furious polocrosse is assured when the action begins on Monday, April 23, at the Morgan Park complex, which will see 52 teams competing from New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and the Northern Territory.
The 11 competitions, as well as Under 12 exhibition matches, will continue through until the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29, when the finals will be contested.
The Nationals Committee has finalised preparation of the fields, completed the all-important draw, and opened the gates in readiness for the influx of players, supporters and spectators from all over the country.
Committee chairman Les Fraser said players from interstate teams had already begun to arrive and set up at Morgan Park.
“All teams have official practise days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, to put the final touches on their game plans,” Mr Fraser said.
The spectacular grand parade of teams and the official opening will take place at 9am Monday, followed by the start of play with the first game scheduled at 11am.
On day one, games will be played in the Under 24 Women, Under 21 Men, Under 16 Junior Mixed, Masters Mixed, Masters Men, and Challenge Cup competitions, as well as an Under 12 exhibition match.
Day two will see players in the Senior Mixed, Senior Men, Senior Women, and the Under 21 Mixed teams also take to the fields.
On Anzac Day, play will not start until 12.30pm, with games being held under lights from 6pm.
The Club House Café and Bar will be open on the grounds, as well as a merchandise shop, and various trade displays and stalls.
There will also be an ATM service available at Morgan Park, as well as a shuttle bus service from the grounds into the Warwick central business district, three times per day.
