Springborg must take action on CSG study: Lock the Gate

Health Minister and State Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg.

Lock The Gate Alliance says the Government is not doing enough to address the health concerns of residents affected by the coal seam gas development in the Tara residential estate.
“Health Minister Lawrence Springborg told broadcaster Alan Jones that he would direct his Department to investigate,” vice president Jacinta Green said.
“Tara residents are still waiting to see the terms of reference for this important study,” she said.
“Lock The Gate under-stands a 1300 number has been set up to take calls from people with symptoms related to gas exposure but that it can take half an hour to work through the ‘triage process’.
“We understand that residents are not impressed with the service, nor with the delays in getting the promised study underway.
“These people are suffering and are under enormous stress worrying about their children. They want action and they want it now.
“Lock The Gate calls on Minister Springborg to expedite the study into the health impacts of CSG and to make the terms of reference available to the public.
“The Minister should immediately visit the area and experience for himself the intolerable health burden the CSG industry is imposing on local residents,” Ms Green said.
