State affiliation for Rose City Probus

The Rose City Probus Club has been accepted as a member of the Probus Association of Queensland (PAQ).
Club President June Sawyer received the Association’s Accred-itation Certificate from the PAQ State President Neil Wagstaff at a Delegate’s Meeting in Brisbane on November 9.
PAQ has over 160 member clubs in Queensland and works closely with Probus South Pacific to promote the Probus organisation in this State.
Probus is a “charitable’, “not for profit” organisation designed to bring “fun, fellowship and friendship” to retired and semi-retired persons of which there is estimated to be over 2500 in Warwick.
Rose City Probus members also had a delightful and interesting trip to Toowoomba on Nov-ember 20. They visited the Main Roads Historical Museum at the airport, where even the females in the group became absorbed in the historical film and the large number of displays covering the history of road and highway development in Queensland.
Following the visit to the Main Road’s Centre, the group inspected the Palm Lake Centre for over 55s and then went to a joint luncheon with Highfields Probus Club members.
Following the lunch, Peter Cullen from the Toowoomba Historical Society came on board the bus and showed members around many of Toowoomba’s lovely old historical homes.
While those homes were interesting and well presented (largely due to the outstanding foliage), they are hard pressed to equal Warwick’s historical sandstone homes and buildings.
Members travelled on a Fillippo’s bus driven personally by Tony himself.
The Rose City Club meets at the Slade Campus Dining Hall on the third Wednesday of each month except in January. Phone 4661 3151 for details.
