Main Range burn-off

QUEENSLAND Parks and Wildlife Service conducted a planned burn within the Mt Superbus section of Main Range National Park, east of the Great Dividing Range, on 29 April.
The burn was part of the annual hazard reduction/conservation management program for parks and forests.
As a result, smoke was seen in the Teviot Gap, Wilsons Peak and Kinnanes Falls areas.
The aim of the burn was to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to create a mosaic pattern of burnt and unburnt areas within the park.
This will help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.
