Morcombes to visit Stanthorpe

CHILD safety advocates Bruce and Denise Morcombe will visit Stanthorpe State Primary School on Wednesday, 8 May, to educate local children on safety.
The special visit was arranged by Stanthorpe State Primary School Principal Jo-anne Pozzi and Broadwater State School Principal Shannon Ambruster.
Year 7 student and senior leader Kye Watson has also played a key role in facilitating Mr and Mrs Morcombes visit.
Both principals wrote to Mr and Mrs Morcombe requesting they visit Stanthorpe to speak with students about safety and harm prevention.
The Morcombes agreed to the visit, which has now prompted a wider invitation to surrounding schools.
About 560 children were now expected to attend from schools throughout the Granite Belt.
“We invite you to come to this event which we trust would be of considerable interest to the community and furthermore will help spread their very positive and pro-active child safety and harm prevention messages,” Mrs Pozzi said.
“The event will take place in the Stanthorpe State Primary School Stadium.
“Visitors are asked to sign in prior to entering the stadium building.”
Any queries with regard to this event can be made to the Stanthorpe State Primary School office on 4681 5111.

DANIEL MORCOMBE FOUNDATION’S VISION
All too often, children are the innocent victims in our sometimes cruel society. The events surrounding Daniel’s disappearance have strengthened a community in their resolve to ensure that this type of tragedy never occurs again.
But the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s belief and vision is one that also incorporates a future where all children are provided with protection, education and support in their lives.
The objectives of the foundation are simple and wide-reaching across many facets of our community.
1. To educate children regarding their personal safety (including abduction).
2. To assist victims of crime, particularly where crime involves children.
3. Honour the memory of Daniel by appropriate public awareness.
4. To raise funds from public and government entities to support the above objectives.
5. To provide a vehicle to attract funding from state and federal bodies and toestablish and maintain a public fund to attract public donations and bequests.
