Numbers surge at Warwick

NUMBERS doubled on the previous week’s rain-reduced yarding.
A fair panel of export buyers was present and operating.
However feeder buyer activity was not as strong as the previous sale and re-stockers were very cautious in their purchases, with prices varying accordingly.
Vealers, yearling steers and heifers suited to the local trade market experienced strong demand, and all export slaughter classes of heavy steers, bullocks and cows improved in price by 4c to 8c/kg.
A few vealer steers to local butchers reached 211c and most of the vealer heifers sold around 150c, with the occasional sale to 188c/kg.
A large selection of lightweight yearling steers returned to the paddock 5c less at 175c, with sales to 189c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers to feed were scarce, with most sales in the 170c/kg range, and slaughter classes averaged 176c to make up to 200.2c/kg.
The best of the lightweight yearling heifers averaged 151c, and D muscle lines generally sold from around 128c to 130c/kg.
Heavy grown steers made to 172c and bullocks made to 170c; however the 6 and 8 tooth classes were in the largest numbers, with most sales around 165c/kg.
Medium weight two score cows averaged 4c dearer at 111c, and three scores improved a similar amount to average 116c/kg.
Good heavy cows made to a top of 142c to average 8c dearer at 132c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 155c/kg.
