Poultry show a winner

THE annual Stanthorpe Agricultural Society Poultry Show will take place this Sunday, 21 July.

The show will be held at the Stanthorpe Show Grounds Poultry Pavilion between 11am and 1pm.
There will be 231 birds on display coming from as far as Gympie to the north and Glen Innes in the south and Judge Tony Maslen will adjudicate.
The birds will be competing for the top prize the RSL perpetual trophy awarded to the Grand Champion Bird of Show.
The club also offers cash prizes, trophies and sashes for each section champion.
Numerous breeds will be on display including the Australorp, Leghorn, Langshan, Pekin Bantam, Wyandotte, Cayuga, Old English Game, Modern Game, Indian Game and Indian Runner are only a few of the breeds on show.
This year the Queensland Branch of the Wyandotte club of Australia has donated special awards for the Champion and Reserve Champion Wyandotte of show as well as awards for Champion and Reserve Champion Coloured Wyandotte.
The event will be well catered for with drinks, hamburgers, egg and bacon rolls, an array of homemade cakes and slices available at the Poultry Club Café.
Thanks to Landmark Ballandean and Neville Produce for donating prizes to the club which will be raffled on the day.
Chairperson of the poultry subcommittee, Lyn Spencer, said she was pleased to see the pavilions will be full to capacity after the installation of new cages.
“There should be something for everyone who has the chook bug, join us at the show grounds for a great day,” she said.
