Beware burglars: police

WARWICK residents have been urged to secure their properties from intruders following several brazen break and enters during the past week.
Businesses may also be at risk with break and enters reported at Stacy St and Wilga Av.
Senior Sergeant Stewart Day said there had been three reported attempted break and enters to residential properties since Friday, 9 August.
Among the hotspots were Wattle St, Denham St and Myall Avenue, which were targeted by opportunistic thieves.
Snr Sgt Day said the thieves were attempting to enter homes while residents were still home and in some cases sound asleep.
“It’s important that residents take extra care to ensure they are locking their homes and not creating any easy access point to their properties,” he said.
Snr Sgt Day said wheelie bins could be used to gain access to second storey windows, and should be secured out of reach.
Other precautions included getting to know neighbours and keeping a eye on each others properties, he said.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity in their street should dial 000 in an emergency or Police Link on 131 444.
