Grain campaign steps up

GRAINGROWERS will write to every Federal MP ahead of the election to ask for their support in the fight against Grain Trade Australia’s planned test weight increase, as the grower group steps up its campaign against the change.
“We believe this is a crucial time to get support from our political leaders,” GrainGrowers Chair, John Eastburn said.
“GrainGrowers has already established that there is no scientific basis for this change and that moving the standard from 74kg/hl to 76 kg/hl will mean growers risk being paid less for the same product,’
“More than 600 people have signed our petition against the increase, and we expect this number to grow as our campaign continues. This issue clearly demonstrates there are serious problems with the way our industry is governed, and we need support from our political representatives,’
“I urge each and every one of our 20,000 grower members to find out where their local candidates stand on this issue and vote accordingly on 7 September,” he finished.
