STANTHORPE POLICE

Cannabis seized
THREE people were charged with drug-related crimes during the past week across Stanthorpe.
Local police issued search warrants on a number of residences in the area.
A quantity of cannabis was seized from a property at Carniel Lane, Bapaume, resulting in a 56-year-old man being charged.
A 38-year-old woman from Wallangarra Road will also face court on drug-related offences after a search warrant revealed cannabis, smoking utensils and other drug paraphernalia in her vehicle during a traffic stop on Saturday morning at Folkestone Street.
Assault charge
A 39-YEAR-OLD woman from Broadwater will face court this month charged with assaulting another woman at Bradley Lane last Monday. It was alleged the victim, who was punched to the face, was assaulted over relationship issues. The matter was being further investigated by police.

Pub crackdown
THREE trouble-makers were charged with public nuisance offences during the past week.
A disturbance occurred between two males in High Street last Thursday night after one man followed the other the a local hotel where he allegedly he assaulted the person before being removed by hotel staff.
Police later located the 34-year-old male at his address in Lane Street where he was charged with committing a public nuisance offence. Another assault occurred between two men at 10pm on Friday outside the Post Office, resulting in an 18-year-old male being charged with being a public nuisance.
Then at 11pm Saturday night, Police were called to a Glen Aplin address in relation to a disturbance taking place at that location.
Police were transporting a 39-year-old visitor from Beenleigh to accommodation in town when he became hostile and abusive.
The man was charged with being a public nuisance.

Driver over limit
A STATIC RBT site in High Street on Saturday afternoon resulted in the driver of the first vehicle intercepted charged with drink-driving offences.
The 53-year-old local man returned a reading of .078 per cent.
He was charged with drink driving and will front the Stanthorpe Magistrates’ Court later this month.

Careful on roads
IT IS approaching that time of year when the population of the local area begins to increase with an influx of overseas itinerant workers.
Historically, this is also a time when the number of traffic crashes and subsequent injuries increases.
Remember to not assume that vehicles will stop at a stop sign or give way at a give way sign.
Some of these drivers may not be as vigilant in obeying the road rules as you may hope or expect.

WARWICK POLICE

Break-in alert
POLICE are repeating warnings residents to secure their properties after a break and enter was reported on Sunday, 1 September.
Senior Sergeant Stewart Day said police were appealing for witnesses after a property on Pratten Street was broken into between 6am and 8am.
Police investigations were ongoing to determine the items stolen.
“It’s important that residents heed the warnings and ensure they are securing their properties,” he said.
“Residents can also assist police in their investigations by supplying any witness statements no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.”

Drug arrests
WARWICK Police made a total of five drug busts during the past week.
The first occured at a Wallace St property on 29 August at 7.55am.
Two residents a 30-year-old male and a 34-year-old woman were charged with drug possesion.
The pair were ordered to undertake a drug diversion program.
During that same morning, at 8.45am, police charged a 46-year-old Warwick woman with possession of drug utensils.
The woman was given notice to appear before the Warwick Magistrates’ Court this month.
Police also issued a search warrant on a Pratten St property at 9am on Friday, 30 August.
Police located a quantitiy of cannibis and drug utensils.
A 19-year-old man was charge with providing a location for the use of drugs and a 23-year-old man was charged with possession.
Both will appear before the Warwick Magistrates’ Court this month.
