The new school year has not only brought exciting new adventures in learning at Stanthorpe State School, but some exciting new faces as well.
Undertaking the important role of pilot school for the Microsoft Innovative Schools Project for 2011, Stanthorpe State School’s brilliant band of educators will be providing leadership to fellow school communities in the innovative use of technologies to deliver excellence in teaching and improved learning outcomes for students.
Joining this terrific teaching team are two highly experienced and dedicated teachers, Cherie Legge and Rosa Berrios, both of whom bring a wealth of knowledge to their positions and are devoted to ensuring students receive the very best education possible.
Ms Legge has come to Stanthorpe from Normanton in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Having grown up in Murwillumbah, Ms Legge is a country girl at heart and loves the great outdoors pursuits of camping, fishing and working with cattle and horses.
She is also a keen sportswoman, enjoying swimming and participating in team triathlons.
“Miss Cherie” as she is fondly known to her students, is passionate about teaching and looks forward to encouraging her students’ love of knowledge and learning.
Mrs Berrios has returned to her hometown, Stanthorpe, after an incredibly interesting and varied teaching career, which has taken her from the down-to-earth atmosphere of Mount Isa to as far afield as El Salvador, where she spent three years teaching in an International School. Mrs Berrios is excited to be back in the Southern Downs and delighted to be teaching the students of Stanthorpe State School.
The Stanthorpe State School community is all the richer for the experience of its educators and it is with much enthusiasm that they welcome these new teachers to the school.
