Orienteering this Sunday

The “Braeside” property, on the New England Highway between Stanthorpe and Warwick, will be the venue for this Sunday’s orienteering event, being organised by the local Bullecourt Boulder Bounders Club.
This grazing property was first mapped and used by the club for orienteering in 2000 and its open, undulating terrain has made it ideal for the sport, especially for newcomers.
A number of families who have participated in the club’s recent come and try it events are expected at Sunday’s event as well as local juniors seeking to gain experience ahead of the Darling Downs school trials being held next month.
As well as the five courses for more experienced orienteers, Sunday’s event will also have a short, easy course suitable for beginners and instruction on the basic map reading and navigational skills will also be available.
Starting times will be from 9am to 11am and the assembly area will be signposted off Crystal Mountain Road, across the road from the “Braeside” homestead.
Local people who would like to find out more about the sport of orienteering are most welcome to come along and participate.
