Hotel celebrates milestone

In October 1922 Jennings Hotel opened its doors for business. To mark its 90th year of operating Lynne Schenck, the current owner, and Loretta Smith, events coordinator, are organising celebrations for the occasion.
They know the brick layer who built the pub was Mr Kyburz and the first owners were Hoskings, who moved to Jennings from Wilson’s Downfall. Apparently, the takings for the first week were 100 pounds. With the help of the Historical Society in Tenterfield they have compiled a list of past publicans back to the 1960s.
They are hoping local residents will be able to help them create a history relating to the hotel.
Photographs, memorabilia, interesting anecdotes or any information about the hotel’s history would be appreciated. All originals supplied will be returned.
Contact Lynne Schenck on
(07) 4684 3237, Loretta Smith on (07) 4684 3309 or email smithdl@gotalk.net.au or call in at the Jennings Hotel.
More details regarding events and celebrations will be advised as dates are confirmed.
