Australian Guitar Duo to perform in Warwick

In their only Australian concerts during 2012, the Australian Guitar Duo will be returning in March for an 18-concert nationwide tour to release their CD, Songs from the Forest.
This will include a very special performance hosted by the Warwick Arts Council from 7.30pm on Friday, March 9, at Warwick Town Hall.
Recognised as one of the most exciting and dynamic classical guitar ensembles, the Australian Guitar Duo has performed throughout the world, including appearances at the New York Guitar Duo Festival in New York City, Project Canción Española in Spain, Festival de Musique Classique in France, and the Mid-America Guitar Ensemble Festival in Illinois, in addition to numerous cities throughout Australia.
Recorded just outside of London in August 2011, Songs from the Forest is the debut recording by the Australian Guitar Duo, and features works by the Australian composers Ross Edwards, Nigel Westlake and Phillip Houghton, in addition to works by Granados, Falla, Scarlatti and The Beatles.
Australian guitarist Rupert Boyd is acclaimed as one of the most talented guitarists of his generation. He has been described by The Washington Post as “truly evocative”, and by Classical Guitar Magazine as “a player who deserves to be heard.”
His solo CD Valses Poéticos received the following review in Soundboard, the quarterly publication of Guitar Foundation of America: “Boyd’s playing is beautifully refined, with gorgeous tone . . . musically and technically flawless . . . [the Granados is] one of the best recorded performances of this work on guitar.”
Jacob Cordover has been hailed as “an exceptional guitarist” (Ultima Hora) whose playing “manages to get to the very soul of the… music” (Classical Guitar Magazine). Jacob has appeared as soloist with the Orquestra Simfònica de Balears and the Orchestra dell’Accademia l’Ottocento, as well as in numerous solo recitals that often feature 19th century repertoire played on authentic guitars.
His “intuitive musicianship and impeccable technique” (Leicester Mercury) have allowed him to enjoy a vibrant international career spanning three continents.
