Annual bull sale this Saturday

With only days until their annual bull sale, Glenisa Angus is a hive of activity.
Manager Ashley Burgess and the staff are busy putting the final touches on the 55 Black Angus bulls that will be offered on Saturday at the Silver Downs selling complex in Tenterfield.
Principal Ced Wise believes Glenisa is offering an even line of bulls that will meet the demands of the market.
“There has been plenty of interest in the bulls and we would like to thank everyone who braved the dreadful conditions to come to our recent open day,” Mr Wise said.
This sale will be the last opportunity for buyers to purchase progeny of the popular Ultra Vox bull Glenisa Abbey A031. “This bull showed plenty of promise but unfortunately he was injured in a paddock accident and was lost to our herd. The last of the line are included in this sale,” Mr Wise said.
Bulls from the Glenisa sale last year have received good reviews from purchasers.
Allan Fletcher of Glen Innes purchased six bulls at last year’s sale.
“As a first time buyer of Glenisa bulls, I am extremely impressed with the structure and temperament of the bulls,” Mr Fletcher said.
“Each has returned a high percentage of cows in calf in their first season and I look forward to their calves exhibiting the same structure, temperament and traits displayed by the Glenisa sires.”
Respected Injune cattleman Reade Radel was another who was impressed.
“We found an excellent range of quality bulls to pick from at the Glenisa sale. The bulls weren’t overfed and have held their condition well throughout the joining season,” Mr Radel said.
The 2012 offering will be available for inspection at the Silver Downs complex tomorrow.
Mr Wise, a respected veterinarian and leader in the cattle artificial breeding industry, has spent more than 30 years assisting producers within Australia and overseas to improve and maximise the genetic strengths within their herds. He is confident the line of Glenisa bulls this year was equal to or better than those sold last year.
“There are a number of bulls, which I rate as exceptional.
“Amongst the line-up are three full ET full brothers (Lot 4, 6 and 7) by Bando 9074 and another ET bull (Lot 3) by Dylemma Radar W42. Glenisa has retained semen from Lots 3 and 4 for exclusive use within our herd,” Mr Wise said.
“The Bando 9074 line has a worldwide reputation for producing outstanding female progeny and we are really excited about the prospects of these bulls.”
The Glenisa sale starts at 11am on Saturday at the Silver Downs selling complex on the Bruxner Highway, Tenterfield.
