Nominees sought

Do you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution to our community? Now is the time to recognise their efforts!
Nominations for the 2013 Australia Day Awards for the Southern Downs Region are now open and Mayor Peter Blundell is encouraging people across the Southern Downs to consider nominating a worthy recipient.
“These Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of individuals who, through their commitment and effort, make our region a better place to live,” Mayor Blundell said.
“It is a wonderful way to acknow-ledge and thank the people within our community whose efforts inspire us and are worthy of recognition,” he added.
Australia Day Awards will be presented in eight categories as follows:
nAustralia Day Citizen Award
nAustralia Day Junior Citizen Award
nAustralia Day Cultural Award
nAustralia Day Junior Cultural Award
nAustralia Day Sports Award
nAustralia Day Junior Sports Award
nAustralia Day Sports Administration Award
nAustralia Day Community Event of the Year.
“If you know of anyone who you believe is worthy of recognition, please take the time to nominate them for an Australia Day Award,” Mayor Blundell said.
Nomination forms can be collected from Council Offices and Libraries, or may be downloaded from Council’s website at www.southerndowns.qld.gov.au (click on the Australia Day Awards Banner). Nominations close on Friday, November 30.
