Slade Lives Again

We were greeted by campervans, trailers, motorhomes and caravans accommodating Landcare workers, assisting with our local flood relief, as we arrived at the Slade Campus late in the afternoon on Sunday.  All these folk were revelling in the beauty, peace and tranquility of the former Slade School site, and the space it provided for them.
A large group of Slade supporters, excited by the possibility of retaining the campus for a community centre, gathered to share their excitement and vision with others.
It soon became evident that those who gathered were catching the vision too – the possibility of using the site for the benefit of the wider community was only limited by one’s imagination!
Last weekend a wedding reception for 100 guests was held in the Dining Hall, while the guests’ children were entertained, fed and cared for in the under croft of the girls’ boarding house.  Forty-five of the guests were accommodated overnight on the campus and had breakfast with the Landcare workers, before they all set out for work or home.
What a wonderful community asset!
If you would like to join in the discussion, to see how this vision could become a reality, please join us at the Slade Hall this Sunday evening at 5pm. You would be so welcome.

Margaret McKinnon,
Warwick
